My boss has asked us to use your Map overlay software and mark all his properties on it for him, which can be used to display all the properties on the map.
I have tried using the application and my observation is that we can do the tracing and choose the area in the map and overlay the property’s picture on the map and take a screenshot of the same which will show in the Photos in the iPhone / iPad device.
Can you please confirm if I can have more than one image / property shown on the map or draw the boundaries around our properties and zoom out to see all of them in the same map.
Please consider this as high priority as we have a tight timeline to finish this and need to know if the above is possible or does this application support only one picture / property at a time.
I’m sorry, but only one image can be loaded at a time. Because of memory constraints on most iOS devices, loading multiple images at once caused many memory related crash issues. You can however mark several things on the map and zoom out to see all of the markings at once.
When opening the ap, map appears, then quickly is gone and the screen is blue. Ap
Is set on map. How can this be corrected. What am I doing wrong? Foss
Is your map zoomed in to a significant degree and possibly the location dot is in your way?
-Try “pinch zooming” out
Did you load a map/image and is it covering up the screen?
-Try adjusting the slider bar which will expose the map as opposed to the image
-Try using the selection control in the middle bottom to switch to “photo mode” and move/pinch zoom the image to move it out of the way
I’m profoundly dissappointed that the app won’t go landscape on my iPad, and nothing indicated that it would be that way after I paid and installed. Also, the maps take a pitifully long time to re-display after a zoom.
Sorry to have to be negative about it, but you might tell the WHOLE story in your app description.
I’m sorry you feel so strongly and are so disappointed in the app. We can try and update with support for both iPad orientations ASAP. As far as the issues with the zoom, I’m not exactly sure what is going on, but maybe you have a lot of apps loaded into memory in the background at the same time chewing up extra iPad resources, or possibly a bad network connection causing poor buffering of map image data?? The map component used is the built in Google Maps component and is not anything custom. All our testing, even more testing after your comments, have not revealed any issues. I would love to hear from you directly and get more information on what your exact set up and what possibly is causing your issues. Also, if you email us directly with a snail mail address we wil gladly refund your double, or how about triple your money back. Sorry again for your troubles, and but appreciate your sincere feedback.
Support for landscape orientations on the iPad has been implemented and submitted to the the App Store for review. Once the update is reviewed and released, probably in a week or so, let us know if this improves your user experience and feel free to make other suggestions. Thanks again for your feedback, we greatly appreciate it.
When the reminder “fires” and your device’s display is “locked” you should hear an audible tone or the device should vibrate, the device’s display should turn on and a slider, just like the screen unlock slider accept it says “snooze,” should show up. If you slide the slider, the Reminder Snoozer app should launch with your reminder and at that point you can hit the snooze button on screen to snooze the reminder or press remove to remove the reminder. If the display is on, a similar sequence of events happens accept that an alert view is presented rather than the slider screen, but if acknowledge the app will launch and the reminder can be snoozed or removed just the same. Feel free to email us at support@longtraildevelopment.com if this doesn’t solve your problem/question. If you do, please provide your device type and operating system version so that we can better investigate what the actual issue is. Thanks.
How do you delete the sample drawing to get a clean piece of tracing paper? I had 2 other people take a look at the app to see if I was missing something. The trash can only removes recent marks, not the original drawing that shows up when you first purchase the app.
You can’t really “delete” an image, but rather load a new one. You can load a new image by going into “photo mode” by pressing the camera button from the 4 button segmented controller on the bottom of the screen. Once in photo mode the top bar will change and you will see a button on the top right that looks like two Polaroid images on top of eachother. This will bring up a photo picker component where a new image can be selected.
Very strange. I definitely appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
First, to better help us figure out the root cause of the problem, could you provide the following information:
-What operating system version are you running on the iPad?
-What iPad hardware version(3G/wifi 16G/32G etc) is the software running on?
-Did you originally download the older version without landscape support and this was an update?
-Does this happen in both orientations, landscape and portrait?
-Does this happen when initially launched in a particular orientation?
Second, could you please try to delete the application from your iPad and redownload? You will not be charged a second time for redownloading, the App Store will recognize that you have previously downloaded the app.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and please keep us informed as to what your success was after redownloading and any details you could provide would be greatly appreciated as our testing on three different iOS versions and two hardware versions does not demonstrate the same issues(we entirely believe you as we saw strange issues like this in testing but previously believed we accounted for all of them), but there are so many software and hardware variations and variables often these issues are often hard to reproduce and this software uses a lot of low level drawing mechanisms. If you email us directly at support@longtraildevelopment.com and provide us with a mail address we would be more than willing to provide a triple your money back refund.
Finally… We found a case where we are seeing similar results to what you are describing. On the original iPad, if we rotated the iPad real quick, we saw the white border and the drawing was off. I think our developer on this project has found a solution that appears to fix the issue on our test device. The fix is submitted to Apple and once it is approved, if you could update and let us know if you still see the issue we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Map overlay tracer
I purchased this last night and played around with it for a bit.
Today( now that I’m ready to plot out my 15 acr lot the app will not work.
I open it and all I get is a gray grid ,every thing is locked up I can’t zoom, change from world to photo, can’t even move slider. This app will stay like this for about a minut then just closes. I like the idea and really need a app like this is there a way to reboot, delete or reload. I want to try it again
Hi: I just purchased map overlay to plot a bike trail. I’m using a hybrid map and trying to mark the trail as I walk it, the app keeps crashing after a few markings. Do I need to press the photo button after I’ve zoomed to the correct scale or something?
Thanks,
Bill
More likely it is a memory issue related to the size of the map. If you can, try opening up the image on your desktop and use paint or photoshop or an equivalent program to scale down the resolution of the image. We are currently working on a solution to this issue. If you need more help with scaling the image or scale the image and issue still occurs please email our support person at support@longtraildevelopment.com. I apologize for this issue and hope to get it resolved quickly.
Hi,
I’m looking to purshase a piece of property in VT and would like to find the property markers. I have the property map from the town and will be walking the land Friday. Can I use this app to walk the land with my phone so that it will locate me near the boundaries to look for the pins?
Yes you can. In fact that was the very same reason I originally wrote the app. Good luck and let us know if you have any problems or need an explanation on how to use it. oh and glad to see a fellow Vermonter making use of the app, hence “long trail development.”
How do you do that? Finding the pins and recording them?
I just purchased the app and I can’t figure out how to use it. I cannot find instructions anywhere, there is no explanation or user guide. I don’t understand the symbols and what they do. A property line I just traced and tried to save is nowhere saved and apparently cannot be printed. Can someone point me to a step-by-step guide of some sort?
I use the map overlay app on a regular basis to overlay surveying plans on actual google maps. When I attempt to either use an existing photo or touch the Camera icon the app crashes and saved locations are functioning incorrectly. Can you resolve this problem, I find this app extremely useful.
We haven’t quite figured out how, but occasionally we have customers report similar problems and it is because the database got corrupted somehow. It is definitely a bug and we are working on a solution. In the mean time, if you delete the app and redownload it should fix your problem. Let me know if this helps at all.
Deleting and downloading didn’t resolve problem, I hope that I wasn’t charged another $2.99
Problem still exists. Another problem that I discovered is that google maps defined properly lines on maps. New apple mapping doesn’t have that feature so outlining property lines with pencil in app is useless and now I am unable to take pictures of surveys and loading them into the app, still crashing. Where is the guide to show each function of the icons, I can figure most of it out but some functions just don’t work, this app has huge potential
iTunes won’t charge you for downloading an app a second time. But I do want to refund you for your original purchase for bringing this to our attention. Admittedly, we haven’t done as much testing on iOS 6 as we should have, but our initial brief testing seemed positive. But that being said, you’ve brought up an obvious issue and we will work to get this straightened out. If you email us directly at support@longtraildevelopment.com with a paypal account we will refund your purchase.
I’m a little confused about what you mean by Google maps defining property lines on maps. Property lines of what exactly? The original intention of the line tracing was to trace a map you provided and see those lines on the Google map component. This should still be the same with the new Apple mapping component.
On your computer, go to google maps and type in your address, zoom in and you will see a property line (not in satellite), obviously it’s not exact but its in close proximity.
I believe that they are using county tax mapping or GIS overlays to define these lines. When I updated my iPhone it loaded Apple maps that doesn’t even come close to google maps and I no longer had the capabilities to outline the boundries. The reason that this app was so useful was that I could get a pretty good idea where property lines were locate and highlight them in red, walk the property using the GPS on my phone. I used it for large properties, especially wooded areas.
Thank you for your efforts and I appreciate your responses. I do not have a Paypal account

We have a solution to the map saving problem that was introduced on iOS 6. We submitted the update once to Apple and it was just rejected because of an IP issue. We are about to resubmitted a second time. The whole process is painfully slow as Apple has to moderate hundred’s of thousands of Apps. The turn around time is anywhere from a week to three weeks. If you need something faster we can send you a developer release. Email support@longtraildevepment.com with the UDIDs (google “How to find UDID of iOS device” if you don’t know what I’m talking about) of any devices you would like to run the developer release version of the app on and we can build you a release.
