New “stable” version of map overlay on the app store!

We are truly sorry for any problems with the last update that we ended up having to pull. The new update should be stable. If you have any issues, delete the app, redownload (you WON’T be charged) and try again. If you still have issues, email us at support@longtraildevelopment.com.

Problems with Map Overlay updates – email support@longtraildevelopment.com for a developer build, sorry

Unfortunately, and much to our disma as well, Apple has made a major change to the way they handle their database on iOS 6. We mad a change to our database structure to react to this issue, which we thought was backwards compatible, but we are finding out on many devices it is not. The easiest solution right now is to delete the app and redownload it (you will NOT be charged). This will clear the database and stop it from crashing and newly saved aligned maps will work just fine. Unfortunately, this means that any aligned maps you have saved within the app currently will be lost. We are trying to work on a solution, but with the Apple approval process it will probably be a week or two. We released an updated version that we thought would fix the immediate crash, but apparently that does not either. Please delete and redownload the app and we will continue to work on a fix. If you really need to keep your saved maps and can’t delete and redownload please email us directly and we will try to get you a developer build ASAP.
Our sincere apologies,
Jeff
EDIT – turns out even the latest update doesn’t solve everyone’s problem. We just created a new version that I really believe should work! I promise. In the mean time, I took down map overlay from the App store to prevent more people from downloading the bad build. I just submitted the new build to Apple and hopefully in a week we’ll have it back up on the apps store. If you want a version before then email us at support@longtraildevelopment.com with your UDID of any devices you want to install it on and we can send you a free developer version. Sorry for all the hassles folks.

BIG updated to Map Overlay Tracer

The new update include the ability to save and reload marked up and aligned maps. The new update also includes a very cool “auto align” feature that allows you to pick two points on your image and select the equivalent two points on the map and then auto align the image to match those two points. Let me know what you think!

Map Ruler Touch support for landscape mode on iPad

Just as an FYI, the newest version of Map Ruler Touch was just approved and posted to the Apps Store and included support for landscape mode on the iPad. We tried to make this a quick turn around because of 2 or 3 complaints about the lack of landscape support. So I hope this makes the app more usable for you iPad users now and please continue to feed suggestions in.

Map Ruler Touch is HERE!

Because I know you all (ok nobody) was eagerly anticipating its arrival. Map Ruler Touch is here! Another app written because I felt the app store didn’t currently provide what I was looking for. I wanted a quick way to calculate on map distances but did not like the options previously provided on the App Store that all either used an annoying cross hair symbol to slowly and methodically create points along a line and 20 minutes later calculate a distance, or the one other option that did use a touch interface was just awkward to use and not very intuitive. Check out the app’s main page for more detail.
